An assessment of existing education and public awareness materials and programs related to the Florida manatee was conducted for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Manatee Recovery Implementation Team Education Working Group. The assessment was designed to identify any overlaps among the various education and outreach efforts; the full range of manatee issues that may need to be addressed through education and outreach but are not currently being adequately addressed; the target audiences that should be served by the Education Working Group, including those not currently being adequately served; and the best strategies and technologies to educate and inform the target audiences, including a prioritization of the groups who most need specific additional information and how to get the information to them. The study entailed a multimodal survey designed to assess the specific needs for manatee education and outreach efforts. | ||

This study was conducted for the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) to assess existing programs related to coastal training and to determine current and desired levels of coastal training among decision-makers in Georgia. The assessment was designed to identify any overlaps among various coastal training efforts; the full range of coastal issues that may need to be addressed through training and information but are not currently being adequately addressed; the professional decision-making groups that should be targeted for coastal training, including those not currently being adequately served; and the best strategies, technologies, and formats to educate and inform the decision-making groups, including a prioritization of the groups that most need specific additional information. The study entailed two multi-modal surveys of coastal training decision-makers and organizations and institutions that participate in or offer coastal training. The surveys were administered through a combination of Web-based, e-mail, mail, and telephone questionnaires designed to fully assess the specific needs for coastal training efforts. The population of coastal training decision-makers and organizations and institutions that participate in or offer coastal training was a known or closed population appropriate for survey administered using the Internet. | ||

This study identified the issues of concern regarding green infrastructure among agency employees and Delaware residents, assessed the agency's capability to improve the public's awareness of green infrastructure so as to garner public support and involvement, inventoried current education programs, identified and prioritized issues affecting public support for the protection and management of green infrastructure, and developed strategies and recommendations for implementing effective green infrastructure education and outreach efforts. The study entailed a survey of agency employees, an inventory of green infrastructure education programs, and a telephone survey of Delaware residents. | ||

This study was conducted to determine the best location and features of shooting ranges in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area so that the agency can most effectively allocate public resources. This study was conducted to obtain direct public, stakeholder, and employee input regarding the future of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR), its strategic goals and desired long-term outcomes and objectives, and the challenges that the GA DNR will face in attempting to achieve its strategic goals.
